It's tough for the Australian squad to break new ground.

The top summits have long been mastered.

This is the unit that has won seven Cricket World Cups, in addition to another six T20 titles, and earlier maintained nearly four years unbeaten in 50-over cricket.

The remaining milestones, those for the achievement hunters, are all that remain for a side that has accomplished all there is.

It needed up to Sunday's three-wicket win over India for them to accomplish their maiden ODI chase exceeding 300, taking back their record for the highest in the female 50-over format, is, honestly, a compliment to the pitchers that have worn canary yellow over five decades.

It is hard for their hitters to hold a record if not afforded the opportunity.

What is certain is this hundred was much more difficult to predict.

The Christchurch carnage in 2022 happened while she topped the run-scoring charts, but this knock followed six innings in India over the past few weeks in which she had been unable to reach 30.

"If you've been watching me in practice sessions, it was a challenging time because I feel like I've had no rhythm completely," stated Healy.

"However when you step out on the field, your competitive instincts take over and you completely engage with the competition."

Healy's competitiveness has always been her key asset - and an invaluable trait in taking over from iconic ex-skipper Meg Lanning.

She was challenged by India's promising player Kranti Gaud in the previous month's ODI series, fallen to the young fast bowler in every game, but on this occasion it simply offered Healy's inspiration.

A single came off Gaud's first delivery and from there the batsman was on her way.

"An opportunity to play and face the challenge with her and just have a bit of fun that way, sort of got me going," commented Healy.

She reached fifty in 35 pitches - her quickest at the World Cup - and her hundred in 84 balls as she flogged anything short, scoring 21 fours and three sixes.

By the time she was removed Australia needed 66 additional runs at a run-a-ball - a manageable total now requiring a leisurely stroll.

"To chase 330 is uncharted waters so I'm pleased we have the assurance to achieve that now," added Healy.

"Hopefully we don't have to repeat it but, should it happen, we believe we can achieve it."

Those words will be the final thing Australia's opponents at this championship should hear.

Over the past five days a sense they will triumph from any situation has grown stronger - this success succeeding success over Pakistan by 107-run victory despite struggling at 76-7 at one point.

Following this Australia face Bangladesh before an encounter with longtime competitors England in Indore in a week and a half, by which point a semi-final place may likely be confirmed.

During that phase they exited the prior year's T20 World Cup in a shock defeat by South Africa - a match Healy was absent due to ruptured tissue in her foot as she guided Australia for the initial instance at an important competition.

So great is her will, she afterwards commented she wished she had played with the discomfort.

But while she later admitted those injuries have delayed consideration of ending her career, this championship is likely to be her final tournament as skipper in one-day cricket and she is yet to win an international tournament as leader.

Triumph in India would take her to the summit of her final mountain.
